• Unreal Torunament '99 free, alive, and well

From Nightfox@VERT/DIGDIST to All on Sat Jun 27 13:40:50 2026
After the original Unreal Tournament came out in 1999, I played that quite a bit and mainly enjoyed online deathmatch games. This might be old news to some, but recently I realized it has been made free to download & play, and there currently are active servers online.

In addition to Windows, it has also been made available for Linux and Windows. If you've bought it from Steam (game of the year edition), there's a v469 update you can download and unzip over your current files; you can also extract the Linux-native version there and run that. There are also full installers available.

Didn't know that, awesome! I played a LOT of UT when it first came out. I also had the original Unreal, which was a lot of fun.

In addition to Windows, it has also been made available for Linux and Windows.

Good thing it works on both Windows.
